BMW i3

The i3, BMW’s first dedicated EV, takes the automaker’s driving principles to a new realm. Its stubby styling and carbon fiber/aluminum structure are revolutionary, yet its looks are pure BMW. Driving dynamics are on hand, too, thanks to a low center of gravity and instant-on electric power. Range is 80–100 miles, and the battery takes just three hours to charge from a 220-volt household plug; an optional range-extending gas engine provides another 300 miles, all but curing “range anxiety.”
